On November 23, all Oak Grove students, faculty, staff and participating parents will come to school in their jammies, along with a favorite stuffed toy and a treasured book. Older students will be paired with a buddy in the younger grades and the day will be spent exploring the magic of words and pictures. Until then, each of our students is asked to request that their aunts, uncles, grandparents and neighbors sponsor them to read (or be read to) on November 23, 2011. Fundraising began on Wednesday, November 2, and continues until November 23. Students (and parents) can get sponsors two ways: 1. The student's personal webpage via oakgroveschool.com. Click on www.oakgroveschool.com and type your child's first name. If two or more children have the same first name, type your child's first name and last name. Teachers also have their own pages using the same format. Please see email suggestions on the day of reading website. 2. Directly, with one-on-one requests (like we did with candy sales or walkathons when we were kids). Each student has been given an orange sponsorship envelope. The Day of Reading is the ONE opportunity for our students to raise money to support their school. In the past, our students have purchased many needed items through this annual fundraiser including: our silver van, instruments for the music programs, LCD projectors for our classrooms, water fountains, and much, much more.
